🥦 Broccoli Field Insights
In the first video, Erica Cannon (CIMXag Agent) explains a common issue that’s been popping up in broccoli fields: premature flowering, also known as bolting.
“We’ve had a lot of warm days, and the broccoli’s wanting to go to flower a little bit early… One thing we’re noticing is that you’re seeing a lot of hollow stems in the broccoli.”
Temperature swings and warm spells can lead to hollow stems, impacting crop quality and reducing marketability. By recognizing early signs, growers can make more informed decisions about timing and management.

🍅 Tomato Crop Takeaways from the Field
In the second clip, Erica turns her attention to tomato plants, noting how recent conditions are impacting leaf health and fruit development.
“We’ve had a few days of really high wind, and you can see that the leaves are a little torn… That’s nothing to be concerned about, but we do want to watch for any pest issues or disease starting to pop up.”
She also points out the importance of balancing vegetative growth with fruit set—too much leafy growth without enough fruit is a sign that adjustments might be needed.
“You want to see a good ratio of fruit and growth. This one’s still a little on the vegetative side.”
